Hello Door... Hello Stitches

This has taken me forever to post, because I got a new phone and I just learned how to put the stinkin' pictures on the computer.  Anyway, on March 2 Julia got to go to Urgent Care.

We were all having a rough day.  Well, really I was having a rough day, so everyone was having one.  Julia was about to drive me insane and Raef tried to help me out. He picked her up and swung her around blindly to take her out of the room. Her head made an unfortunate introduction to the corner of the very heavy door.

3 stitches!

But she still kept a positive attitude. Of course, this was before it took 3 nurses and me to hold her down and get her stitched up. She was not happy then.  But a few lollipops later, and it was all okay.

This Is Exacto-ly What Happened

It is a good thing my friend Bonnie is staying here tonight. She came from Vegas for a flute competition and even brought her son Nikolas, so that he could play with his friends, including Raef and Zach. They have always been good buddies.

Anyways, we are hanging out, talking, catching up. You know, the whole bit. They are playing. We have settled down to watch a Hayley Mills movie (Moonspinners), when I hear a horrible, blood-curdling, well-amplified scream from Zach.  The sad thing is, I didn't even bother to get up out of my chair.  He does have a flair for the dramatics.  But then when Raef came running for me in a panic, I knew something was wrong.

Blood everywhere!

I got the boys a book called Mini-Weapons of Mass Destruction.  It is an awesome book, but it may have projects that include the use of an Exact-o knife.  So now my awesome book, that uses very inexpensive household items, all of a sudden, in one swift movement, became a very expensive book.  Zach tried to make a zombie target by himself.  It did not go so well.  He now knows that when he has to use an Exact-o knife, it would probably be better to do it with a parent.

So, Exacto-ly 3 hours, 5 stitches, and $150 later, I am home.

Woe Is Me!

Well, today has been a tough one for me. For some reason this afternoon I got really nauseous. And surprisingly enough, it is hard to find a comfortable position for ultimate incubation maximization.

In other words...HELP! I think I am drowning.

I can't do anything, go anywhere, or even eat anything. Which aspect of this picture would be the worst part for you? I think loss of appetite is the most depressing of the three if you ask me. What can I say, I love food. I was finally able to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Unfortunately, sugary desserts don't have the appeal that they once did.

I weep.

At least I won't gain much more weight, right?

On Friday night I ended up taking myself to Labor and Delivery because I was having a lot of unprovoked contractions. I stayed up late watching television and at 11:45pm I started to count contractions, considering the fact that I had not moved for quite a while. Then the contractions followed at regular intervals: 12am, 12:10, 12:20, 12:28, 12:38. I got up and went to the bathroom to empty my bladder just in case. Then I laid down again and 10 minutes later, I had another one.

Rinar stayed home with the kids and I drove myself. I knew I was not in labor, but if I didn't get some intervention, I could end up that way. They hooked me up to the monitors and sure enough, I was having a lot of contractions. So, they did all their checking, did a FFN, put an IV in for fluids, and gave me 2 shots of muscle relaxers.

Can I just digress here and tell you how much I despise IV's? I mean, those things are torturous. They stay in your hand or arm and continually get more and more achy. I try not to think about it, but the more I don't think about it, the more my hand is screaming at me. When I go to give birth, I think I will be more terrified of the IV than anything else.

Anyway, after 2 hours of observation, the FFN (a swab test) came back negative. Hallelujiah. It is a test they do that has 99% accuracy to tell you if you will deliver in the next two weeks. As long as I take it easy I should be able to get to 35 weeks fairly easily.

There you go. I thought I would spice up this pregnancy for everyone a little bit. Now, I hope there are some good things to watch on television the next few weeks to keep my mind off of my impending misery.

One day at a time...one day at a time.

A Sudden Trip to St. George

It was an eventful weekend. On Saturday I got a call from my Dad telling me that my grandmother, his mom, has only 2-3 hours to live. Rinar and I packed up all of our stuff around 2:30 pm, jumped in the car and started to head up to St. George. It is a 1 hour 45 minute drive, so we were pretty confident we could get there in time. We had been planning on picking up Rinar's cousin Bethany at the airport and having her hang out at our house for the day until her late flight. However, we had to ditch her. I felt kind of bad for her. We arranged for some friends to pick her up at the airport and take her back, but it was sad that we couldn't visit. Beth is a pretty cool chick!

We went straight to the hospital, but we couldn't visit her because she was in ICU and visiting hours were closed for a little while. So, we sat around and waited. They decided to move her to a regular room and just see what would happen. I thought that she would pass away, but she didn't.

As far as I know, she is still alive. There may even be an outside chance that should could make it through the whole ordeal. Grandma has emphysema so it is very hard for her to breathe. She looks like she is very uncomfortable. I hope she will be okay. We will see what happens.
